About Candlestick Point
About Candlestick Point
Candlestick Point is a neighborhood in San Francisco, which was once known as the site of Candlestick Park. This stadium served as home to two notable sports franchises: the San Francisco Giants in the MLB and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. Once the Candlestick Park was closed and demolished in 2015, the neighborhood of Candlestick Point was developed and aims to establish a new identity for itself.
Candlestick Point is located at the southeastern tip of the city. Along with its development to build residential housing, there is also a vibrant entertainment and retail community in plan. There are currently 2,000 new housing units being developed in this neighborhood and these numbers are expected to grow as the years come. There are also ongoing renovations on existing public housing projects.
There are vast green spaces included in the plan for development at Candlestick Point. This is a valuable amenity for the current and future residents in this neighborhood. The Candlestick Point State Recreation Area is located on the eastern part of the neighborhood. It is one of the top amenities in this neighborhood measuring at 170 acres in land area. This is being revived as a major outdoor space for the residents of Candlestick Point, which include picnic areas, hiking trails, and fitness courses.
